The Selmers’ own summer house fulfils the dream of the Norwegian archipelago: shoals and sheltered coves, sand and smooth rock, heather and fertile soil. The construction was adapted to suit the expertise of a local carpenter. The very small house under the alder tree seems closed, but lets light and air in and through. Everything in the interior can be adapted to different uses. One table, sofas doubling as beds, a sliding door hidden in the chimney breast, two small bedrooms in the attic. This place combines the modest and the rich and varied, in architecture as well as in use.
